Glines Carpet One Floor & Home in Yuba City is your local flooring retailer and we can help you find the perfect hardwood floor for your home. When it comes to hardwood, you can turn to our professional staff that can help you determine the type of hardwood you should install in your home. Hardwood comes in many different styles and selections, but only comes in two types of constructions. Our showroom features a collection of solid and engineered hardwood floors for you to choose.
Benefits of Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Engineered hardwood flooring features a modern layered construction. It is made up of several layers that are pressed together cross-grain, which results in increased stability of the plank. This type of construction works to resist the natural tendency of wood to expand and contract due to levels of moisture and changes in temperature. Engineered hardwood comes in the same styles and species as most solid wood options. It can also be refinished like solid hardwood, depending on the thickness of the top layer.
You can install engineered hardwood almost anywhere in your home, even in places with high traffic. Engineered hardwood is tough enough to handle kitchen messes as well, and is less likely to react to moisture caused by spills. It is still not recommended for rooms like bathrooms and laundry rooms because it is still a wood product after all.
Solid Hardwood Flooring
Solid hardwood is considered the traditional hardwood option, and it features a very simple construction. It is made of a single piece of lumber that is usually ¾” thick. A benefit of solid hardwood is the ability to have it refinished. When you refinish a solid hardwood floor, you are not just extending its life cycle but you can also change the finish. When it comes to refinishing solid hardwood, you can only go as far at the tongue on the edge.
